White Herend RABBIT FIGURINE _ 1472
White Herend RABBIT FIGURINE _ 1472
This rare Herend porcelain rabbit figurine, depicting two rabbits seated together on a small round base, is an unpainted white example that left the manufactory before receiving its traditional hand-painted decoration. In this pure porcelain state, the sculptural modeling becomes the focal point - every contour, detail, and gesture visible without the addition of color.
Founded in 1826, the Herend Porcelain Manufactory is one of the world’s most prestigious porcelain producers. Located in Herend, Hungary, the factory gained international recognition in the 19th century, supplying European aristocracy and royal courts, including Queen Victoria. Herend became synonymous with finely hand-painted, richly decorated porcelain, maintaining its artisanal production methods to this day. Each decorated piece traditionally passes through multiple skilled hands: modelers, painters, and gilders, before completion.
Because Herend is especially known for its intricate hand-painted patterns, unpainted figurines are uncommon and offer a fascinating insight into the production process. Without surface decoration, the purity of the white porcelain highlights the precision of the sculpting and the refinement of the form.
A rare and collectible object from one of Hungary’s most celebrated porcelain manufactories - elegant, and exceptional.
