Vintage red-striped TOWEL
Vintage red-striped TOWEL
Vintage handwoven homespun linen towel, a piece that blends everyday utility with cultural heritage.
This example features a red-striped design. Traditionally, homespun textiles in Hungary were made from hemp or linen, woven at home and sewn into their final form. Usually plain white or natural in color, they were sometimes decorated with embroidery or woven stripes. In rural culture, these tablecloths served not only to cover the table but also had multifunctional uses, from bread-baking cloth to seed-sowing cloth, or even as a carrying wrap.
Made from extremely durable textiles, they could remain in use for several decades, lasting through to the present day.
