Porcelain VASE with teal crystalline-glaze _ 1373

This pipe-mouth porcelain vase with a rare white-turquoise crystalline glaze was made by Ferenc Halmos in 2019. Its surface reveals large, star-like crystal formations that emerged during the precisely controlled cooling process - each pattern entirely unrepeatable.
Halmos, originally trained as a chemical engineer and later working as an independent ceramist, is known for his deep technical understanding of glaze chemistry and his dedication to crystalline porcelain. These zinc-rich glazes, among the most demanding ceramic techniques to control, require exact firing curves and expert timing to allow crystals to grow within the molten surface.
The result is a luminous, almost cosmic surface unfolding across a simple, restrained form - a contemporary object where scientific precision meets artistic sensitivity.
