Lívia Gorka WALL PLATE _ 1455

Lívia Gorka WALL PLATE _ 1455

This wall-mounted ceramic plate by Lívia Gorka (1925-2011) reflects her deeply personal, nature-driven visual language.
The surface is built from a chamotte-rich clay body, giving it a coarse, tactile presence. On a turquoise ground, a bird form appears in white and graphite tones - rendered in a slightly abstract, reduced manner that remains true to Gorka’s approach. The figure is not illustrative but suggestive, capturing movement and presence rather than detail.
Lívia Gorka’s work often draws from elemental natural forms: birds, stones, organic growth, translating them into sculptural, symbolic objects. Even within a functional format like a wall plate, the piece moves toward autonomy.
A material-driven, expressive object - where surface, motif, and form merge into a quiet, archaic presence.
