Lívia Gorka VASE _ 1333
Lívia Gorka VASE _ 1333
This hand-built vase by Lívia Gorka (1925-2011) reflects her more experimental, sculptural approach to ceramics.
The form is less constrained by symmetry, shaped through hand-building techniques rather than the wheel. The deep turquoise surface is layered with black patterning, creating a dense, almost painterly effect.
The piece shows visible damage, consistent with its age, adding to its authenticity as a material object shaped by both process and time.
Gorka’s work often draws from natural and archaic forms, where the vessel becomes more than a container - a presence shaped by gesture and material.
A raw, expressive piece - closer to ceramic sculpture than functional ware.
