Lívia Gorka VASE _ 1331
Lívia Gorka VASE _ 1331
This wheel-thrown vase by Lívia Gorka (1925-2011) reflects an early or more restrained side of her practice, where functional form meets a strong graphic surface.
The body is structured through striping: turquoise ground layered with black lines and interrupted by off-white sections.
Lívia Gorka, daughter of Géza Gorka, developed a distinct voice within Hungarian ceramics, moving from functional pottery toward more autonomous, sculptural objects. Even in her more traditional forms, surface and structure remain closely connected.
A balanced piece, where gesture, rhythm, and material meet within a clear ceramic form.
