Hollóháza RABBIT FIGURINE _ 1477
Hollóháza RABBIT FIGURINE _ 1477
This hand-painted porcelain rabbit figurine from the Hollóháza Porcelain Factory depicts two rabbits seated together on a square base. Carefully decorated by hand, the painted surface brings warmth and character to the sculptural form, highlighting the fine modeling details of the fur, posture, and expressive features.
Founded in 1777 in the Zemplén region, Hollóháza is one of Hungary’s oldest porcelain manufactories. After transitioning from glassmaking to porcelain production in the 19th century, the factory became especially known in the 20th century for its decorative figurines and hand-painted tableware. Animal figures such as rabbits were widely present in Hungarian homes, becoming part of seasonal displays and everyday interiors.
The hand-painted decoration reflects the artisanal process characteristic of Hungarian porcelain traditions - even within series production, each piece carries slight variations in brushwork and tone.
This example is in excellent condition, without visible damage.
A charming and collectible piece of Hungarian porcelain heritage - expressive, nostalgic, and finely crafted.
