Géza Gorka VASE - Iparművészeti Vállalat Edition _ 1298
This small ceramic vase, designed by Géza Gorka and produced by the Iparművészeti Vállalat, reflects the material-focused approach of Hungarian mid-century applied arts.
The exterior is finished in a strongly textured yet smooth-to-the-touch glaze with a slightly glossy, crackle-effect appearance, reminiscent of dried earth. The interior continues in a yellow crackle-effect glaze, but here the surface remains smooth, without the external texture, creating a subtle contrast between inside and outside.
Géza Gorka (1894–1971) was one of the most influential Hungarian ceramic artists of the 20th century. Through the Iparművészeti Vállalat, his designs reached a wider audience while maintaining artistic character — each piece slightly unique due to hand-finishing and firing.
A compact yet expressive object where surface and form carry equal importance.
