Colourful glass VASE

This striking vintage vase with basket-shaped neck was crafted at the renowned Katarínska glassworks in Poltár, Czechoslovakia - a region known for its bold, expressive glass design. Featuring a pierced, lattice-like neck reminiscent of a woven basket, the vase is made from multicolored glass with a vibrant, speckled surface pattern.
Each piece from this factory was hand-blown and individually finished, making every vase unique. The irregular spots of color and openwork detail lend it both a playful and sculptural quality, characteristic of mid-century Central European design.
Although not Hungarian, at Finecut, we preserve and curate these pieces as luminous reminders of a rich, regional design heritage. Socialist-era trade allowed their spread - they now evoke a shared cultural nostalgia across former Eastern Bloc countries.
