Ceramic VASE with teal textured crackle glaze _ 1386

This ceramic vase from the Hódmezővásárhely Majolica Factory reflects the distinctive material language of one of Hungary’s most important 20th-century ceramic centers.
Founded as a state company in 1950, the factory built on strong regional folk traditions while developing a modern ceramic vocabulary. Designers such as Gyula Végvári and János Fekete contributed to a synthesis of vernacular motifs and contemporary form, resulting in objects that were both functional and expressive.
The exterior is finished in a turquoise crackle-effect glaze, creating a softly fractured, mineral-like surface, while the interior is coated in a deep graphite glaze, adding contrast and depth.
A characterful object - tactile, grounded, and rooted in Hungarian ceramic heritage.
