About the artist: Éva Bod 1924-2004
‘In 1960, she started ceramics as a hobby, first learning the secrets of the potters will. Then she dedicated her life of the mystery of glazing as she said at the time ‘what happens in the kiln is pure chemistry’. It took her a couple of year to get membership of Fine Art Fund and become an official full time ceramic artist. In her studio she created tableware, vases in all sizes, cachepots, plates, wall decorations, mosaics, lamps, figurines and candleholders. She studied and used the classical forms and styles from ancient cultures.’
