Black striped TABLECLOTH and NAPKIN SET

A black linen-blend tablecloth with fine white stripes. The edges are finished using a traditional Hungarian “kolbász” stitch, first outlined by hand, then sewn with an old, footless shuttle embroidery machine. In this method, a thick cotton cord is laid beneath vintage machine-embroidery thread to create a rounded, padded effect. The embroidery was made in Kalocsa, Hungary, a town renowned for its rich embroidery and decorative traditions, by the skilled hands of Margit néni. This traditional technique, worked with original vintage thread, not only preserves but also honors valuable heritage, weaving a piece of memory into a contemporary functional piece.
