Amber glass VASE
Amber glass VASE
Kraków School of Glass, Poland, ca. 1960–1970
This sculptural amber glass vase is a remarkable example of postwar Polish design by Jerzy Słuczan Orkusz, a leading figure of the Kraków School of Glass. With its dynamic curves and rich, honey-toned glass, the piece reflects a modernist approach to form and material, typical of mid-century Central European applied arts.
Hand-blown and finely finished, the vase embodies the bold experimentation and craftsmanship that defined Orkusz’s work during the 1960s and 1970s - a period when the Polish glass scene flourished under both artistic and industrial innovation.
Although not Hungarian, at Finecut, we preserve and curate these pieces as luminous reminders of a rich, regional design heritage. Socialist-era trade allowed their spread - they now evoke a shared cultural nostalgia across former Eastern Bloc countries.
