Zsolnay RABBIT with wooden log FIGURINE _ 1478

Zsolnay RABBIT with wooden log FIGURINE _ 1478

This hand-painted rabbit figurine, holding a small wooden log, was produced at the Zsolnay Porcelain Manufactory in Pécs. Each piece is individually painted by hand, resulting in subtle differences in brushwork, shading, and expression, no two examples are exactly alike.
Founded in 1853, Zsolnay became one of Hungary’s most important ceramic manufacturers, internationally known for its artistic innovation and technical mastery. Alongside its architectural ceramics and iconic eosin glazes, the factory cultivated a strong tradition of hand-painted figurative porcelain, especially throughout the late 19th and 20th centuries. These animal figures were modeled with care and brought to life through detailed, manual painting, preserving the character of studio craftsmanship even within serial production.
The rabbit clutching a small log reflects Zsolnay’s gentle, narrative approach to figurines, playful yet refined. The hand-painted surface enhances its individuality and warmth.
A collectible piece of Hungarian porcelain heritage, handcrafted in Pécs and rooted in one of Central Europe’s most celebrated ceramic traditions.
