Cymbidium orchids are thick, waxy flowers with five-pointed petals on each bloom. Cymbidium is one of the most popular and desirable orchids in the world because of the beauty of flowers and the fact that they are available in a rainbow of colors including white, green, yellowish-green, cream, yellow, brown, pink, and red, orange and even black.
It became popular in Europe during the Victorian era. One feature that makes the plant so popular is the fact that it can survive during cold temperatures (as low as 7˚C).
Varieties of Cymbidium are considered a delicacy in Bhutan where it is traditionally cooked in a spicy curry or stew and called "olatshe" or "olachoto".
The red boat orchid is a medium length stem: 50-60 cm.
A finecut is made up of 3 stems, approx. 20-25 flowers.
